Managing Director

Alex Taylor’s marine knowledge and experience has developed from serving as a Second Officer with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. He joined the family ship supply business at the age of 21 assuming responsibility for logistics within the company. He was rapidly promoted to the post of Sales & Marketing Director, a position he held for 4 years and in 2005 was made Managing Director. Over the following years Alex continued the successful growth of the business with the opening of new branches and development into new sales areas.

He remains resolute about his ambitions for Hutton’s:

‘I always ask myself, ‘How can we do this better? Not just for us, but also for our customers.

Our aim is to constantly strive to develop systems that will benefit our customers and our business’.


David GreenwoodDavid Greenwood email

General Manager

David Greenwood brings to Hutton’s a wealth of experience having been responsible for running international logistics and supply operations for almost 20 years.

He has been responsible for start-ups, growth and change management and operations for companies such as UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Tibbett & Britten and Whitbread. More recently he managed the food and non-food supply chain for the MoD into Iraq during the Gulf War, and since 2009 he has successfully managed a ship chandler company in Dubai, UAE.

David, who joined Hutton’s on March 1st, will assume responsibility for the overall day-to-day management of Hutton’s, enabling Managing Director Alex Taylor to focus on the company’s overseas projects and new ventures.


Hannes BezuidenhoutHannes Bezuidenhout email

Financial Controller

Hannes started out his career as an auditor and after working his way up to auditor manager, moved onto a number of senior finance positions in the logistics and fashion retail industries in South Africa.  Hannes moved to England to join a South African owned construction and manufacturing company before joining Hutton’s in April 2011 as Financial Controller.

In his spare time, Hannes likes keep fit and has previously completed various marathons and ultra marathons.  Hannes is also a keen supporter of Hull City AFC.

General Manager

Hutton & Co (Medical) Ltd

John is Co-Founder of Marine & Offshore Medical Supplies which was incorporated into the Hutton’s business in 2005 and rebranded Hutton’s Medical

He has an extensive track record in drug classification and is called upon to advise on the latest marine medical legislation and the supply of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, consumables and essential drugs to many of the world’s leading ship owning/management companies and offshore industries in the world.

John also works closely with Hutton’s customers providing them with an inspection, stock replenishment and certification service to ensure the legal requirement of their medical lockers.

His other responsibilities include overseeing the commercial development of the company.

Sales Manager

Jon Hickey was appointed in January 2008 as Industrial Sales Manager. He will assume responsibility for developing and expanding sales activities for Hutton’s range of products and services to UK based industrial companies.

Jon brings over 20 years experience to Hutton’s having previously held the post of Distribution and Warehouse Manager for Wolseley and as a Sales Area Manager in engineering supplying valves, tubes and fitting to the industry and establishing sales territories.

Jon served with HM Forces, in West Germany, Northern Ireland, England and Canada teaching computerised weapon systems and achieved rank of Warrant officer Class II. He is married with one son who is in the Navy. His hobbies include rock climbing & triathlon.

Sales Manager for South Coast

After attending Blackpool College of Meat Technology, Stephen returned home to his father’s business of Shipping and Wholesale butchers. Becoming a manager at the age of 20, he helped to oversee all Hospital and School canteens and Admiralty contracts in the Falmouth and Truro area and provided the lion’s share of Ship stores in the area.

He felt he needed another challenge and to that end purchased a 55-foot stern trawler FH227 where he worked as Owner/ Skipper for some six years. He then returned to the family business but in Liverpool with H.L. Okell & Sons where he spent five years learning the sales side of the business before spending 25 years as sales director in the Ship Chandlery business in Milford Haven.

Thereafter, he started up his own company, Pan Europe, with Geoff White as partner which Hutton’s bought out. Steve is now Sales Manager for the Pembroke & Milford Haven area.

Hobbies include fishing, sailing and walking the coastal paths and eating out.
