Hutton’s is a long established name within the UK ship supply industry with routes established in Hull as ironmongers in 1820. As Britain’s international trade developed the UK’s ports swelled drawing in ships from international ports all requiring support for the local Chandler.
The shipping industry has seen a number of major changes over the years, Hutton’s evolved with them under a number of different managements growing over the years with additional facilities in a number of other ports entering it’s current identity following a buyout in 2000 by Alan Taylor, joined by his son Alex. The Taylor’s have over 100 years of experience within the industry operating Hull Ship Stores, later HSS International, since 1925.
This was a new era of the company, locating in a new warehouse facility in Kingswood Parks, Hull and building on a reputation as a provider of Quality, Reliability, Value and Service to ships calling at UK ports.
Alex Taylor became Managing Director in 2005 and under his leadership has remained focused on specialised ship supply, overseeing the company’s expansion as the UK’s leading supplier to the marine industry and maintaining 9 years of continued growth.
